Carrying a powder horn without a strap is like lugging around a very awkward water bottle from the 18th century. At least a strapless horn is useful for pointing out the obvious at historically appropriate distances.

The thong end of this strap is intended for the throat end of your horn, while the strap end has a generous "buttonhole" for the finial on the base plug. I like to snug that finial tight and wrap the strap with some cordage to secure the horn. I have also cut the strap lengthwise into two thongs.
